Our Commitment

What Is Bullying?

Definition
Bullying is behaviour that is repeated, intentional and involves a power imbalance, making it difficult for the victim to defend themselves.
Forms of Bullying
Bullying can take many forms, including physical harm, verbal abuse, social exclusion, online harassment and prejudice-based behaviour related to identity, background, or personal differences.
What Bullying Is Not
Not all negative interactions are bullying. One-off disagreements, arguments or conflicts are not considered bullying unless they occur repeatedly and involve an imbalance of power.

Prevention at HISV
We take a proactive, whole-school approach to preventing bullying through culture, curriculum and consistent practice.
Positive behaviour and respectful relationships
Age-appropriate wellbeing and relationships education
Strong staff–student relationships
Celebration of cultural diversity
Clear online safety expectations
Supporting Vulnerable Pupils
Students with SEND or additional needs may face increased risks. We provide tailored pastoral support, reasonable adjustments, and close collaboration between teachers, SENCO, and safeguarding staff to ensure every child is protected and included.

Reporting Bullying
At HISV, we encourage students, parents and staff to speak up if they experience or witness bullying. Reports can be made to the safeguarding team or any trusted adult. All concerns are taken seriously, handled sensitively, and followed up promptly to ensure the safety, wellbeing, and support of everyone involved.
